Need Advice - Exhausted
| Tue, 04-03-2007 - 9:40pm |
I am completely baffled. I was expecting to be exhausted on Phase 1. I am in my second week of Phase 2 and I am completely exhausted. For the first time in ages, I came home from work and collapsed in bed for an hour.
I think that I am eating enough and making good choices..?? (see Paula's food log). I am also taking a very good multi-vitamin for women. I am also getting enough sleep (6-7 hours). Any ideas? Perhaps the timing of what I am eating? I don't know, I am at a loss.
FYI - this is day 3 of being VERY tired, and today was the worst!

Hi Paula,
I don't see any problems with your menu.
I definitely keep my wine, when I have it, very limited. For example, last night I had about 1-2 ounces....very little. Just a taste, actually.
Last night I got 8.5 hours sleep, and was still slugish and tired this morning. I don't feel as though I am coming down with something, but you never know. I will give it a couple more days before I get concerned.
Paula
Could it be that you are exercising too strenuously? Check out this article: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-fbsouthbeach&msg=24929.1&ctx=0
I am LOL...! If anything, I am not exercising enough. I have developed a degenerative disc disease, which was a factor in the weight gain. I am very limited as to what types of physical activity that I can engage in. I can walk, but not power walk because the condition has caused a problem with my left hip. I have been told that I can do certain pilates exercises (but not all), yoga, and resistance weight training. I can also use an elliptical trainer, but I don't have one and don't want to spend the money on a gym just to use one machine. We are, however, looking to purchase one so that I can add that to my exercise routine shortly. I can also garden and clean...but, I don't count that as true exercise.
The tough part is that I KNOW that I would have more energy if I could do some aerobic exercises.
Are you eating anything that you normally DO NOT eat, that you might be sensitive to and it's causing fatigue?
Sorry you are feeling so exhauasted. HOpe it improves soon...
The only thing that I can think of is that I SLOWLY switched from regular coffee to decaf coffee. I have always made 1/2 caf coffee in the morning; so, starting with day 1 phase 1, I have been decreasing the amount of regular coffee by a couple of teaspoons per day. So, I was down to decaf only by phase 2 (1 week and a half ago). Then, I have a regular diet pepsi with my lunch to give me a bit of a jolt to get through the day. Its just that I did it so slowly that I didn't even experience any lethargy at all. I'm not sure why it would start to affect me a week later.
I'm basically eating everything that I did in Phase 1, plus some fruit and whole grains. As for alcohol -- I am drinking alot less wine than I used to (especially, when I was in moving mode). As a matter of fact, I am probably only having wine every other night and only a taste of it (maybe 2 oz).

I don't think it is SBD. I think you may have a bug. I would consider seeing your dr. You are eating great food and should not be experiencing being tired now on Phase 2. It could have happened during P1 so...
Best wishes,
Linda
