progress on the wheat difficulties

Just an update --
I freaked out when starting phase 2 awhile back when "legal" whole wheat stuff was making me drop over sleepy.
I have been working on this (amidst all my ups and downs, perhaps it has contributed to my ups and downs?? who knows)
So far I know this -- bread, any variety, bad (includes english muffins and bagels); lentils, very bad!, I had a full blown hypoglycemic response to lentils (no love lost there),
okay -- ww pasta -- I don't eat much, it doesn't seem to bother me
no prob -- triscuits -- very very happy about this
just tried kashi whatever that looks like shredded wheat. Hope it doesn't get to me, because I really enjoyed it! I also have the kefir every day, supposed to "tone up the gut" not *exactly* sure what that means. =) This may be helping.
Thanks for all the tips on how to determine food sensitivities. I know more about myself now!

Teresa, thanks for the update on your struggles with wheat. I was really worried about you for a while. It looks like you are getting a handle on things. It's just taking a while to find out what you are sensitive to.
Hooray for those little successes that will lead to the big ones!!! I admire you for sticking with it. Takes alot of courage!!! You're gonna make it girl !!!

thank you for the encouragement! I feel like I am getting a handle on things (finally).
I am going to make it! Thank you!
Hey -- did you say you were in Nashville recently? I was as well, at the whole Opryland complex. Had a blast!!
Thanks again!

Very interesting.
Could it be something else in the product? I know the lentils won't fit...but bread for example has so many other ingredients besides the wheat (yeast, sugar, etc.) But pasta and Triscuits do not have either of those.
It totally could be the wheat - I guess to me it just seems like their are so many other variables in the products you are looking at and they are night and day as far as their ingredients.

Theresa,
I'm glad to hear you are able to figure this out --- AND that you can tolerate some whole grain foods. Great job!
Yes! All over sweet potatoes. I guess on the days I'm MIA from journalin... Have been roasting them like I do other veggies, but now I found the frozen ones at wal mart, I'll have to see if they meet muster. I *love* them roasted w/ a little coarse salt and rosemary. My kids just gobble them up, too.
Re: that calcium discussion below (too lazy to post separately) I totally agree -- keep the calcium stores banked up!

I was starting to wonder the same thing. Especially after reading the posts about corn syrup in everything. Corn is my absolute worst offender. It will put me to sleep in the middle of anything. So I should check if there was any HFCS in those bready products. Interesting!
Also -- the lentils, that just must be something that gets me all by itself. There were no hidden ingredients in there.
thanks!

Thank you!
I am so glad that I'm not as defective as I originally thought! =)

Yeah Teresa, I stayed at the Best Western Opryland (just across the street from Opry Mills Mall and the Grand Ole Opry). I was there Wednesday and Thursday nights. I went over to the mall on Thursday afternoon and did a little walking and shopping. I went to the Ryman Auditorium for concerts on Wednesday and Thursday nights. So much fun!!!
Gee...I wished I had known you were going to be there. We could have arranged to meet!!! Maybe another time. DH & I go to Nashville alot. It's only about 3 1/2 hours from home, so we frequently go up there for concerts and Opry shows. I'm a huge country music lover!!!

Is that the hotel with the Applebees? We ate there one time.
I think we may have missed each other -- I was there the last weekend in March. The weather was heaven! I would have loved to meet you at the mall!
I like country music, too. DH not so much!
