Does anyone else feel sick?

Hi everyone

So, im on day 9 of the South Beach Diet and have dropped 4 pounds just as the Doc described! But ever since the second day as I remember, I am feeling sick. I am following the plan exactly, currently in phase one - breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and evening meal.

However, almost after finishing every meal I feel content in what I have eaten (I never feel the need to overeat) but also incredibly sick in my stomach. I dont think I will ever actually be sick but still, its not a very nice feeling.

Is anyone else experiencing this sensation? Is this the reason why people find themselves losing weight as they are unable to overeat on this diet plan? Is this because I have a build up of ketones in my body due to the high protein intake?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Sorry you're not feeling well.

No, we're not losing weight because we feel too sick to eat. We lose weight because we are eating healthy amounts of healthy foods and because we are keeping our insulin levels stable. Additionally, we avoid

I wouldn't say that I ever felt 'sick', but I know that I always have a hard time adjusting to more fiber in my system.

Thanks for the input everyone... only I cant think of anything that comes to mind. Im still taking the same vitamins, eating when im hungry, sensible quantities, plenty of veg. Before starting the SB diet I was eating very very healthy foods, only had an obsession with carbs and enjoyed the late night munchies; bread, rice and loads of porridge!

So, my thinking is perhaps my body is just trying to get used to this new way of eating? It is only day 9 on the plan. Perhaps ill just grin and bear it for a while, after all I have seen a marked difference already!

Thanks everyone x

I agree...your body may just be detoxing.

You're right. Your body is probably detoxing from the overload of bad carbs. I'm sure you'll be feeling better in a day or two. Keep us posted.

I have had this happen to me!!

I don't know how to trace why or what triggers it, but I have definitely felt sick at times, especially sick of vegtables!!
This is unusual because I had always been a veggie LOVER.

I also noticed that my tastes have changed. I started SB in January 2005. My whole life I had HATED cucumbers, red and green peppers, cinnamon and other foods too. Suddenly I found myself craving these things!

I'm no doctor but I think your body does weird things when you start giving it what it really needs. Good luck, I hope you start feeling better soon.

I have a friend that has problems with Splenda. Could that be it? I personally don't use alot of splenda but she says it gave her gas.

Such a lovely bunch of girls - soo nice & supportive! Thank you all for your suggestions :)

Well, Ive used splenda in the past but havent used it since starting SB only Sweet & Low. Im also getting my sweet fixes from a sugar free squash which contains aspartame - perhaps that could be the culprit???
