Do I "need' milk?!?!

I was never really one to eat a lot of dairy (with the exception of cheese). Do I really need milk?
It was the easiest thing to lift out of my diet and I do not eat ice cream, yogurt, or cottage cheese anyway. I have tried to eat some cottage cheese - my kids LOVE it - but it's feels yucky in my mouth (lol, I know!).
Or can I stick with my 40 ounces of water and 2 caffeine free diet cokes a day??

I am not the best person to ask, since I am in my first week of phase 2. However, I have to say that it seems like I lose easier when I do drink milk every day. Weird, isn't it? I was never a big milk drinker before I started the SBD, but for some reason... I like it a lot more now.
I think it's all about the calcium. Maybe you can take supplements?
Hi Jennie,
Yes, you absolutely need to include dairy in your diet for it's nutritonal value. On South Beach you may have skim or 1% milk, yogurt or sugarfree lowfat soy milk. Cheese and ice cream DO NOT count as dairy.

I bet a glass of milk would be better with my eggs in the morning than bottled water anyway... off to check the milk thread! Thanks!
You're welcome!
