Sorry, cole slaw is not a good choice
Ah, good thing I only ate a little of the cole slaw then! lol
They were pinto beans. Are pinto beans bad???
Pinto beans are fine.
Jennifer
Plain pinto beans are fine. Yes, it would depend on how they were prepared. I mainly use them in salads and chilis.
Yep - it would depend how they are cooked. Around here I've seen lots of pinto beans cooked as something they call "charro beans" or "barracho beans" - which usually have bacon, lard and or sugar in them. So if they were that style - nope, not SBD friendly! And if they were "baked beans" - again, nope not SBD friendly as those are loaded with sugar and again usually bacon or non-lean ham.
Now if they were simply plain beans with only "legal" seasonings, then they'd be fine.

LOl well at home I use them mainly in soup/chili and I bet they were not SB Friendly at the place but nothing to be done about that now!! lol
They didn't taste sweet, or have any bacon in them so I'll never know.... oooh the mysterY!
Yep - down here in the southern region they tend to cook things quite differently! I've never seen just plain pinto beans in a restaurant. They are generally cooked with bacon/pork and seasonings. Black beans are usually a safer bet in restaurants, they don't add as much to them.
