i just weighed myself and i am down another 3.5 lbs (to bring my total loss for phase 1 to 8lbs)! i am starting phase 2 today, but i must say, i am VERY nervous. i think the more options i have the more room for messing up! how did you all do your first week on phase 2? i am going food shopping tonight and any tried-and-true tips would be much appreciated!!

thanks!

Congratulations on a successful phase 1!

It's not uncommon to be nervous when starting phase 2! You shouldn't be afraid of food options....the more variety available to you, the better chance you'll have of staying on track.

Be sure to read about the options for starting phase 2 as well as some tips and other information here: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-fbsouthbeach/?msg=25502.1

Good luck and get back to us with any questions!

My best advice is to have a plan!!! Know what you are going to be having for meals so there are no surprises.

Another thing that worked for me is to NOT have my grain in the evening. Stick with Phase 1 type meals for dinner. I liked having a grain for b'fast and either had a salad or sandwich for lunch. When I had a grain at dinner, I had too many servings (too much pasta/rice etc). So, I just didn't serve it. Now in phase 3 I will have a grain at night more often but I will admit, when I do I feel a bit out of control (I want to eat a lot more during that meal!!).

You need to figure out what works for you!! Everyone is different.

Good luck,

Lisa.

I was so nervous too... you will do great though. I started slow as well, adding 1 grain and 1 fruit the first week. Now I am up to 2-3 of each every day.

The first week on phase 2, I lost less, but still lost... 1.5 pounds. Adding more food actually increased my weight loss. Good luck to you!!

Hey there
I'm a little late but wanted to offer my support. I am on my second week of P2. I lost 6 lbs in Phase 1 and another 2 so far on Phase 2.

What my SO and I did was to gradually start adding carbs back in. So we're only doing one carb a day for the most part. Like if we have oatmeal at breakfast, we're having a salad for lunch. He gets more tempted with the fruit than I do. I can eat no fruit and be perfectly happy. I am still seeing a difference so I think I am suceeding so far. The scale (and tape measure) will tell!

Hi Tara,

It's really recommended to have 2 grains and 2 fruits in the second week of phase 2.

Yes thank you. I do know that. We're only in our second week. We'll be adding in more next week.

I just started Phase 2 yesterday, and quite nervously also! I just added one fruit and one grain to my daily food intake. I was worried about going into Phase 2 and it triggering old eating habits. So far, so good! It's nice to eat a grain and a fruit without any guilt and still lose weight! (Okay, that part I don't know yet personally, but I will BELIEVE....afterall so many people on this message board have been very succesful at losing weight on Phase 2.)

How is it going for you now?
