I tend to get hungry - like stomach growling hungry around 3:30 - 4:00 every day.

I eat breakfast around 9, lunch around 12:45 and dinner around 6.

Should I do two lunches or just a bigger lunch? Or an enormous snack at 3:30 - and really, what would be the difference in a second lunch and an enormous snack?

For lunch today at 12:45 I had 5 mini eggplant pizzettes (they were good - they were each about 3 inches in diameter and 3/4 inch thick).

Then 3:30 I had one enchilada (SB friendly) so that was a grain serving and protein and a glass of skim milk.

Dinner is prob steak and veggies.

I tend to go for eating smaller meals more often, rather than one extra big meal. I eat every 3 hours or so.....

I have a breakfast (fibre one with almonds), snack (yogurt or smoothie or cheese string etc), lunch, (salad, meat, fruit) snack (triscuits/hummous or triscuits and laughing cow), supper, (veggies/meat/sweet potato) snack (treats if I'm not hungry, like popsicles, jello etc...all sf of course...or turkey rollups or smoothie if i"m starved!)....more or less! : )

It really doesn't matter what you call it or what you choose to eat as long as you pick from the Foods to Enjoy lists. You should always eat when you are hungry. However, keep in mind that sometimes thirst 'disguises' itself as hunger. If you have eaten substantial amounts and feel hungry a short time later, try a big glass of water and then decide if you are hungry. :)

I did know that and so I've been drinking about 40 ounces of water a day - and drinking my water BEFORE my snacks so I'll pay extra attention to it now, when changing up my eating routine!

That is exactly what I do! Breakfast at 9:00, lunch around 12:00, lunch#2 (a big snack) at around 4:00, dinner at 7:00. I'll throw in a small snack around 5:00 or 6:00 if I'm having a late dinner so I don't graze while I'm cooking, because that's never good!

I have breakfast at 7, lunch at 11:30 or 12, snack around 5, and dinner at 9:30 or 10.

I have breakfast around 10 a.m. (kids eat first) and then lunch around 1:30 p.m.-2 p.m., snack around 4 p.m., dinner around 7 p.m. and late snack around 10 p.m.
That seems to work for me. Sometimes my snack ends up being more than my lunch or whatever, but as Karen says, as long as you are getting all your veggies, dairy, fruits and grains in, and you're choosing from the Foods to Enjoy list, it's all good!

sometimes i don't have time to eat a snack in the afternoon, so when I get home I might have a banana or nuts or a yogurt or have some veggies, whatever is left over, some cauliflower with parmesan. as long as the edge is off and i can wait till dinner. Leila
