I've moved on down!
| Mon, 06-11-2007 - 10:46pm |
I decided to add my exercise time back in so I've went ahead and moved on to phase 2. I figure I need the bit of grain I eat. I did 1 hr of cardio and about 50 crunches (ouch!) those muscles are out of shape. I need to do about 50 more before bed. Wish me luck lol. I really enjoy phase 2. I continued to lose the first time around so I'm sure I'll be fine. I cheated some over the weekend (think White Russian and onion petals lol!) Just a few onion petals but I had 2 white russians. I'm going to need alcohol advice. I don't drink very often but I'd like to know what sort of thing would be best when I decide to have a drink (or two:-)
So glad to be onto this phase again!

Hi Joy,
It's always best to move to Phase 2 rather than fall off the plan. Good move! The addition of fruits and grains should help to satisfy you better and keep you away from the temptations. Don't forget to eat ---- a trap many of us fall into when we start Phase 2! Also, continue to drink lots of water - your body needs it to process the extra fiber.
As far as alcohol goes, one of our boards favorite cocktails is to mix flavored rum (such as Malibu) with Crystal Light. There are other options too; here are our alcohol guidelines. Let me know if you have any specific questions:

One drink=PHASE 2: What alcohol can I drink on Phase 2?
During Phase 2, alcohol can be reintroduced in moderation. Moderation is defined as 1-2 drinks per day. Wine is the best choice. Champagne, vodka, gin, rum, and bourbon are also fine. If you choose to drink, make sure you do so during or right after a meal, since a stomach full of food will slow the absorption of alcohol into your bloodstream—and keep your blood sugar levels steadier. And, of course, you'll want to avoid sugary mixers like fruit juices and regular tonic—opt for diet tonic instead.
Thanks Karen! I had found those guidelines one day while searching around. It's nice to know I can indulge every once in a while. Thanks for the crystal light/rum tip. What flavor crystal light would taste good w/ malibu? I need to find more mixed drink type ideas. I love the milk based drinks but they are always mixed with the wrong things!! Why can't kahlua be sugar free LOL!? Also how about Michelob Ultra? My Dh recently started buying that since it's low carb and only 95 calories. I know that beer is usually a no no. The only time I really even want one is when we are eating certain types of food.
Thanks! Joy
Its tougher to drink while out than at home. Some options are things like rum and diet coke - really any diet soda w/alcohol of your choice, regular martinis (not the fancy flavored ones, just the plain gin/vermouth ones) and of course my #1 favorite - wine.
At home you can get much more creative! My absolute favorite drink to make at home is a mojito w/splenda:
1 part rum
3 parts Club Soda
1/2 lime
8 mint leaves
3 packets Splenda
Place mint leaves, lime and splenda in glass. Muddle. Add add ice, rum then soda, stir well.
We also do margaritas with sugar-free margarita mix (Baja Bob's - you can order it online, but I get it at my neighborhood liquor store) We also do something like a daquaris with either rum or tequila, frozen fruit and Crystal light. My current favorite is strawberries, mango, a little lime juice, Crystal Light orange and tequila. Made this for a crowd a few weeks ago and they all loved it - they had NO idea it was so much lower calorie than their usual high sugar margaritas they drink - plus it had fiber and some nutrients from all the fresh fruit!

Joy,
I like the pineapple/orange flavor Crystal Light with rum.
If you love white Russians try mixing DaVinci SF Kahlua syrup with skim milk and vodka.
Oh my! I need to write those down lol. It seems like I go all winter without drinking anything but as soon summer gets here I feel the need to indulge ;-) Thanks for the great ideas. Dh will be thrilled ~ we can still have an occasional drink!!!

What a great idea!! I have the SF caramel, vanilla and white chocolate. I'm going right now to order the sf kahlua flavor online.
THANK YOU!! I don't know why that never crossed my mind ;-)
