other than that im liking it.its a huge change from the northwest and i am feeling a little homesick, but once things start to look more familiar im sure thatll pass!

Hi!

I don't know the area you are in at all (never been :-) but I can sympathize. We just moved last month from the Seattle area to coastal South Carolina. Granted I'm from the southeast so I love it here but on the other hand I'll be so much happier when I can find my way around! My best advice is to get your hands on a phone book. You should be able to look up some of the shops you are looking for and also invest in a local map (with the streets labeled). You are right you will feel much happier when you know where you are going. Good luck and I hope you are settled in soon!

I don't know anything about the area you are in either - but I can also sympathize. We moved 1.5 years ago from California to Texas. Whoa. Really, all I can say is just, whoa. Totally different "world". Shopping is more challenging here - but luckily we are close to a large metro area (we live in a suburb of Houston) I've been able to find most things - it just takes a lot more work, more driving and more stores. Restaurants are also a tad more challenging. Not there isn't healthy food here, there is. Its just not as common/popular and "in your face" like it is in California. You kind of have to seek it out.

Good luck - it may take some exploring. Also, a lot of brands have product locators on the websites where you can type in a zip code and it will tell you the closest store that carries it. So if there is a specific product you are looking for, you may want to try that.

I moved from Seattle to Virginia a year ago, so I understand your problem. I happened to stop in Peoria on my way over here because we have family there. I don't know about groceries, but I can tell you that the humidity is way worse than anything I ever saw in Seattle! Sorry I don't have any advice for you on shopping, but I can understand the feeling of being

hey guys!
thanx for the words of encouragement!it really helps to know that others have battled this and succeeded:)

im feeling much better,Peoria is constantly surprising me,in a good way, the Krogers has a good organic/natural section and i found another store by the name of Schnuks that has great veg selection,as im typing, im making some stir fried fish and brown rice:). we found a really nice gym at the riverside and seeing speedboats helped(kinda like seattle).
So i haveto say thats its a pretty nice place to live,i will move back to Seattle but for now im ready to enjoy a different lifestyle for a few years:).the city has everything but its all far flung which i guess is expected, theres so much space here!!

will keep on updating u all!thanks again:)
