What's the official word on Barilla Plus pasta? I truly detest whole wheat pasta, but this stuff is awesome. It is made with white flour, but also with lots of legume flours. It's got TONS of protein and fiber, so in that respect, it may be even better than ww. On the other hand, it does have white flour.

Oh, choices choices.

Hi,

Here's what cl_Cathy said the official nutritionist says about Barilla Plus:

The pasta you mention is sold under the name Barilla Plus. Pasta made from whole grains has all of the fiber intact and semolina pasta (Barilla and Barilla Plus) is more refined. Barilla Plus is made from a blend of semolina (a refined flour) plus flax and chick pea flour, so it would not be the best choice for the SBD. During Phase 2, the very best choice for pasta is whole wheat pasta followed by soy pasta. Those made with durum semolina would follow. Therefore, this pasta may be used, it just isn't the very best choice. Pasta counts as a 'starch' and one starch serving is 1/2 cup-already cooked.
