Grains instead of Fruit?

Can I substitute an extra grain on the days I don't feel like fruit. I like fruit, but just don't want it everyday. It's too sweet sometimes...

When you're fully in phase 2 you should have 3 fruits and 3 grains. It's okay to have just 2 fruits, but you should try to stick with 3 grains. If you want more than 3 grains, give it a shot and monitor for cravings and weight fluctuations.

I was just thinking about the opposite. Can I substitute grains by fruit? I just started Phase 2 yesterday and I ate a sandwich for lunch but today I do not plan to eat grains - maybe 2 fruit instead?

You really need the nutrients in both the fruit serving and the grain serving. Is there a reason you don't want both? Most of us look forward to the addition of these foods.


Once you are well established on phase 2 (when you are eating 3 fruits and 3 grains daily), it's okay to cut back on one fruit serving, but you shouldn't really cut back on the grains.
