Are my breakfasts ok?

This morning I ate :

- piece of low fat cheese
- 1/2 banana
- Coffee (with skim milk)

Yesterday I ate:

- 3/4 cup of muslix no sugar added 7g of fiber (but there's dried fruit in it...)
- 3/4 cup of skim milk
- Coffee (with skim milk)

The day before:

- a slice of whole wheat stone bread no sugar added
- 1 tbs of natural peannut butter
- 1 cup of skim milk

Am I doing ok? I'm not a big fan of eggs and meat and veggies in the morning. I can't cook anything I'm always in a rush with the kids and the lunches, etc.

Thanks,

Cat

Hi Cat,

Is a half of a banana and a slice of cheese enough for breakfast? It wouldn't hold me over at all!

I'm not sure about your muslix with dried fruit. If there's no sugar it's okay, however most dried fruits contain added sugars especially if this is a pre-packaged cereal. Can you post the ingredients list for us to take a closer look?

The slice of ww bread with pb is fine. Again, though, is it enough? How about a couple of slices of turkey bacon to go with it?

Hi I'm at work but here is a similar kind of cereals (mine are President Choice too but there's a mention on the box NO SUGAR ADDED: http://www.presidentschoice.ca/FoodAndRecipes/GreatFood/ProductDetails.aspx/id/18223/name/PCOrganicsSwissMuesliCereal/catid/176

As for my cheese/banana breakfast I admit I'm starving right now!!! It was not a good choice I realize it!

I like the bread + peannut butter breakfast. It's my favorite and I can go all morning without beeing hungry.

Thanks!

Cat

I don't know about the muslix (but I see another poster took care of you there) but the other things look fine.

I had to work hard to make my breakfasts larger. I was used to not really eating breakfast but then eating way too much later in the day.

I accomplished that by eating more variety within my breakfast - I do like eggs and have time to cook (most of the time I'm a SAHM) but I add turkey deli meat, fruit, cherry tomatos, a cheese stick, banana w/ peanut butter...

This morning, I was starving so I ate a full serving of leftover crockpot lasagna. Not necessarily "breakfast" foods but it was so good!!

I know you said you aren't a big fan of meat in the morning - but I would try really hard to add some protein to your breakfasts. The peanut butter was good - but the other days you had no protein. I find I am hungrier all day and can never really "catch up" if I don't have some type of protein w/breakfast. I don't do eggs, but I do like turkey bacon, canadian bacon/lean ham and soy sausage. I nuke my turkey bacon in the microwave and it just takes about 1.5min for 2 slices, so not long at all.

I'm no whiz at math, so you're gonna have to trust me on this one.

The cereal you linked me to is not the best choice for a couple of reasons. First, it's low on fiber (here's where the math comes in!). It contains 4 grams of fiber per a 55 gram (2/3 cup) serving. If you were to reduce the serving size to an allowable SB serving (1/2 cup or 30 grams), there would be less fiber. We look for cereals that have 3 grams of fiber per serving. The cereal also contains raisins which are a phase 3 food and corn flakes

Thanks. I'll try the Go Lean Kashi... Like I said my box is similar to the one I sent you in the link but I remember there was more fiber and no raisins... Anyway I'll look at the label tonight and if it's not SBD I'll try to make DH eat it :)

Cat,

Feel free to post the information from the cereal box at home. We'll be happy to take a look.

Cat,

I just wanted to point out a typo I noticed in my post to you.

We look for 3 grams of fiber per serving in cereal (not 4). I have edited the post accordingly.

I hope you find something you like that falls within the guidelines!

Just wanted to say, I LOVE the PC Blue Menu products. So many SBD friendly choices from that line.

I did read on here that Fiber One Honey Clusters is an acceptable SB cereal, so that's what I have been eating.
IF I am not wrong, I would recommend that cereal because it is really tasty!
I slice a banana in it and add some ff milk. I also have it with MS sausage or other protein. It's a great breakfast.
