Meal plan for this week

I might just become organized!

This week I'm planning to make Michael Ann's chx strips and serve with raw veggies (both can be dipped in ranch) for Mon. night when dh doesn't come home (he teaches a class). The rest of the week will be: Speedy Fajita salad (tacos for the kids), Mediterranean meatloaf paired with salad and Michael ann's slow cooked green beans, 20 min chx creol with brown rice and sliced garden veggies, grilled steaks w/ roasted sweet potatoes and cabbage salad, and a chx/ww pasta/ veggie toss w/ salad, I also have the ingredients to try the eggplant pizzettes (there were just two eggplants left at the superwalmart, I hated to separate them. I took the female. I felt like I was splitting up Fred and Ethel! I always forget if the female or the male eggplant is supposed to have better flavor....)

I have all the recipes laid out and I already did the shopping. All that's left is the cooking! I'm not sure how I used to do things before....but this way is better. I have learned so much from hanging out with you guys!

Here's to another week of great food! Thanks again to all for the support and great ideas,
Teresa

Teresa...you have read my mind! Here I am on Saturday night...my DH and son are at grandma's, baby is sleeping so I have some peace...and I'm trying to organize my week of meals so I can pick everything up at the grocery store tomorrow! I am checking out some recipes, still working on getting them organized on my computer, how did you do it? I want to make my life easier!

I'm still at the stage of being thrilled to have the meals planned, purchased and at my fingertips -- I don't have my recipes organized well yet and I need to -- pronto!!

Let me know if you come up with anything.

Hey Shirley --

Impressed is not the right word -- I've only recently reformed... and I'm posting purely for personal accountability at this point! It has made my life tons easier and I want to form this as a (new, good) habit.

What part of Alaska? My bestfriend taught school up in Kotzebue Sound for awhile.

I never knew there were male and female eggplants. How can you tell??

Since I'm not a real food expert, I am now second guessing myself on this! But I seem to remember a handsome single produce man telling me about this back in my single days and grocery shopping was something I got cute for. He said that the female has the curve in at the bottom and the male has the curve out.

Anyone able to verify this? ( is it warm in here or is it just me blushing?)

GOod for you for starting the menu planning! I try to do that as well...some weeks I'm better than others. I find that when I do plan them out I do *much* better than when I just wing it.

As for getting your recipes organized, here's what I have done. I have a 3-ring binder for all of my SBD-friendly recipes--whether they come from this site, Food Network, other sites, magazines, etc.). I have separated them out into the usual categories, and it works very well for me. When I make something I really like I make a note of it on the recipe, and if I make something we don't like at all, I just throw out the recipe so I know not to make it again! :o) I also have a recipe file on cookinglight.com, that I sometimes choose new recipes from. AND, I have a huge collection of old Cooking Light magazines (like from 10 years ago when I used to subscribe) that I use as well. I'm trying to get into a system of using them--thinking maybe I will take the old magazine from the current month (say August 1997) and cook a few things from it this month. Still working on sticking to that, though. I have a completely separate binder for non-SBD recipes that I sometimes use when entertaining.

Hope this helps a little! BTW, I'm really glad to hear you are feeling so much better lately!
