Fess up, who's had a cookie recently?

Come on, fess up you know you want to!!
I made some cookies at my sister's house - and they had choc chips and peanut M&M's in them and I don't do chocolate, so I knew I was safe from the baked cookies... but the dough - oh man - 2 cups of Crisco.... ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh. I had about 4 finger fulls of it and wow was it amazingly good.
Then, two days later, dang it, Deklan force fed me a bite of the cookie and it was just as good as the dough. Thankfully, that was the last bite of cookie in the house b/c I'd sent them all to work with Sean!!!

Funny, even my mom never used Crisco. Although, my family tends to excel in cooking...not baking. I've always found that people are usually either cooks or bakers, rarely both.
That is so true about people being either bakers or cookers, but rarely both. I love to bake and hate to cook. Luckily for me....my husband is an amazing cook, but rarely bakes. Although so far I have been doing all of the SB cooking.
:)
The last time I baked something, it was blueberry muffins for my DD and her sleepover guests. The girls said they tasted like soapy pretzels. When I went back to look at the recipe, it turned out that I used 3 tsps. of baking SODA instead of baking POWDER. Ooops....not a baker!!!
I havent had a cookie yet (wont even bring them in the house) but I did have the teeniest bite of my sons bday cake.
Yeah - I've heard that, but I actually love both and think I do well at both. When I took culinary classes (my first time in college) I was seriously considering becoming a pastry chef. But I also did great in my regular classes and I consider myself a pretty good cook too. I mainly enjoyed baking because I was all about EATING the result (I have a huge sweet tooth and live for desert!) But I also loved the freedom and creativity of cooking. And I still love both!
Now my mom, she was a baker. Hated to cook, didn't really know how. My grandma was the opposite - she was the cook and didn't bake. So maybe its because I hung around both of them in the kitchen that I picked up a little of each!

I had the feeling you were good at both. A few on this board are both - exceptions to the rule!!!
Like MichaelAnn, I like to think I am a relatively good cook and baker (and my family agrees). I'm more experimental with my cooking than baking, though, since baking is so much more of a "science" than cooking. If I want to experiment with something I bake, I'll start with a recipe and just tweak it a little. I love to do both, though, and I miss all the baking I used to do! Making all the SBD muffins just isn't the same as a giant chocolate-raspberry torte...
Oh well...sometimes I make things for other people just because...

No cookies here! My mother is also an exception to the rule but unfortunately none of her baking or cooking is SBD friendly.

I've been good on the cookie-front. Though I wanted to share -- my 2 yo daughter and I were home alone a few weeks back, DH took the boys to a camp out. I tucked my little girlie in bed, she said, "see ya tomorrow, Mommy. I yuv you." I said, "What do you want for breakfast?" Her face LIT UP, like she was just waiting for someone to finally ask her and she said, "Tookies!"
Tookies for breakfast....I've never served tookies for breakfast, so she must have inherited my cookie monster gene. =)
