Can one have too much fruit?

Morning everyone:
I'm currently on Phase 3 after losing 60+ lbs. but I do have a question that I've been wondering about for some time now. I always have my 3 servings of fruit (usually some sort of berries which I love) but I do sometimes go up to 4-5 servings if I have a serving for dessert, etc.
Is there really a limit to fruit at this stage or basically is it an individual thing? I always feel guilty if I go over my servings but sometimes I'd just like something sweet and I certainly don't want to have something like ice cream or cookies. Thoughts anyone?
Thanks, Dawn

Since you are on phase 3 and the extra servings don't seem to be affecting you adversely, I wouldn't worry about it! After all, it's certainly better to eat more fruit than to binge on other foods!
I'm also on phase 3 after losing 67lbs. For me personally, phase 3 has meant that I do not count servings at all anymore. Some days I may have 4-5 grains other days I may have 4 fruits. I don't even worry about portions of wine, nuts, beans, etc. anymore at all. I also don't count sweet treat calories (I usually have more than 100 per day). I've maintained for over 1.5 years by doing this and not had a problem.
Phase 3 is very individual - its all about finding the balance that works for you personally. Some people find they still have to be strict to maintain. But if that's not the case, then I wouldn't worry!
Congrats on your loss!

Thanks for the advice ladies. I have been maintaining now for a bit over 2 months so I'm still a little nervous about gaining it back. I lost 50 lbs. on Slimfast 5 years ago but once I went back to eating normally gained it all back and then some.
That's what I love about the SBD---it's not a diet it is a way of life. When I start to get uptight about servings etc. I just try to remind myself that I'll be eating healthy like this for the rest of my life and to lighten up a bit--lol.

Yup, this is a diet you can live with. Any of those diets where you are severly restricted or limited in you food choices, can only backfire.
Good luck ~ you're on the right track!
I was VERY nervous about maintaining too, but I have not gained even one pound (I do fluctuate between 115-117 with my period, occasional bloating, etc - but never, ever over 117 in almost 2 years) The statistics are staggering - I don't recall exactly, but its something like over 75% of people who lose gain it back within the first year or two. But I think the key is HOW you lose it. I think those who gain it back lose it through "quick fix" diets or who think they can go back to eating how they used to and still maintain. While I have certain relaxed on the guidelines - I have NEVER gone back to doing anything against the core philosophy of South Beach.
