Have you hit a slump in phase 2? How long did it last and what did you do to get out of it?

As far as I know I'm not in a slump, but I know going into the holidays it will be real easy to backslide, not be very strict and well... you know... downhill and upscale... from there.

Just curious!!

Hey Jennie,

Just saw the name and was wondering if you are the same Jennie from the TTC board a few years back? Don't know if you remember me,

Well...to be totally honest, I've pretty much been in a slump since last Christmas! I feel like I never really got my *groove* back after that. I go through periods of time where I'm really good, then I backslide and it takes me awhile to climb back out of it. I'm climbing again now...very slowly...

I just need to give myself a good kick in the butt. When I get back from my trip this weekend, I'm starting back in on the couch to 5K *again*, and am determined to stick with it through the holidays. Also I need to get back into doing yoga & weight training most afternoons. For some reason lately I keep finding other things I *need* to do during that time, instead of working out. And I can definately feel it--I feel like crap!

I really think you should try to cultivate a more positive attitude towards exercise. Start to understand that you cannot avoid it forever, it is a very large piece of the puzzle of being healthy. Once I really got into exercise, you see how much work you have to do to burn a calorie and then there's a lot less cheats, because you don't want to cheat away all your hard work at the gym.

I just saw, "I never fail to gain on the weeks I exercise" that you wrote in another post. Well, yes, there will be a temporary gain as you start to build muscle. It takes a little while before the metabolically active muscle starts helping to burn more calories on a daily basis. A bit of cardio and strength training certainly won't hurt either.

oooooooh, I don't know, I think I could avoid it forever! lol

I am active - that was my starting point and I am doing pilates now. Chasing the kids at the park, playing ball, walking to the library - I get my acitivy in - just not "conventionally".

All the sex helps too. That's Sean doing his part to support my weight loss efforts! hahaha

Ok, I know this wasn't directed at me, but I think I really needed to hear that. I keep trying to tell myself that chasing my 2 toddlers around is enough exercise. Clearly, this isn't the case. If it were, I'd already be a size 6, right? I changed my attitude about eating. I don't let myself think about it as dieting or as a choice. I don't let myself sit here and think "Poor me. I have to skip junk food because I'm fat and I need to lose weight." I've really formed a positive attitude about it. I like eating this way! (Never really thought of it that way!) I'm really proud of myself! I really need to work on feeling that way about exercise too. I think I need to work on finding exercises that I like. I HATE boring repetition. That makes stationary bikes and other machines pretty miserable for me. But there are other options out there! My husband does about 30 minutes of weights other toning exercises every night before bed. He always encourages me to do it with him. I need to just buckle down and do it. Hmmm... I'm gonna get on this! I guess the first step is believe I can do this and I think I can. Thanks Patty!

That's a big thing for me - being bored with what I'm doing. Step aerobics - boring. I can do it - it's mastered.

Now pilates - that is challenging me and I am TERRIBLE at it and therefore, I am LOVING IT!!!
