DYK The only extra-curricular activities she has right now are karate and band??? This is her first year in band and she's learning to play the flute??? She's great at it and I would hate to take her out of that???

DYK I know your situation is totally different from my niece's, but the therapist we went to see had an interesting take on this.

DYK she said if you take away all the extracurricular activities she has at school, you take away all her reasons for actually *going* to school.

DYK I have no advice for you.

dyk I'm a "dog mom"...that counts, right?

DYK Pete and I have had long conversations over the last several days about what our dog should get us for Mothers' and Fathers' Day.

DYK she usually gets us something small, like a DVD (so we can stay home and pet her while we watch it).

DYK I think shrubs is the answer to this??? Bruce would really like the dwarf fruit trees, but I don't think I would like the mess they make???

DYK I'm all for a 10 foot high stone wall??? I wonder how he would manage to move his stuff over that???

DYK Either way, it will cost us money just to keep his stuff off of our land???

DYK I understand that you don't want to punish the dogs, but you should think about a dense and fast-growing hedge!

DYK I agree with the therapist, Deb???

DYK She's not likely to lose band???

DYK We both would like to see her excel at learning to play the flute???

DYK And she really loves that so much???

DYK I just wish we could make her pre-teen brain understand that what she is doing is only hurting her in the long run??? She has admitted that her attempt at getting bad grades to fit in with the 'cool kids' did not work for her??? They still didn't see her as a cool kid???

DYK Thanks for the hugs???

DYK I guess he thinks he owns the grass there anyway??? When they were landscaping, we allowed him to grade the side yard going into the backyard area because he said he had a travel trailer that he wanted to park back there. (We have yet to see a travel trailer, thank goodness.) In exchange, he re-sodded the entire side yard up to the end of our driveway. This is the area he has allowed his dogs to roam onto. And also when/where he dug up our invisible fence that we had to fix. In his defense, we had forgotten that the invisible fence was buried over there. But it never would have been disturbed if we hadn't let him re-landscape that area. We were trying to be good neighbors and get along with them. And it's caused us no end of trouble. Now, the trouble is that his dogs cross over into our invisible fence area...and of course, as with all the rest of this, he knows that he is allowing his dogs to cross over into our invisible fence area. And I worry that his german shepherd will some day gobble up my miniature dachshund. It's not likely to happen, unless Sugar gets out of our chain link fence. We installed the invisible fence outside of the chain link just as a precaution because she was getting out.

dyk depending on how drastic you wanted to be there are a couple options -

dyk you could put a fence - or some other "marker" down that side

dyk you could call the city for them to issue a warning of encroachment

dyk you could send a certified letter and log it with the city

dyk you could charge him rent ;-)
