DYK I can't believe I get to start this thread? 


DYK it's still March 31 st here and only 9 pm, but it's April 1st according to the board b/c it's on a different time zone?


DYK I am excited to start April...I want it to be my most active month yet.

dyk ok, so I can link all my hunger to AF related stuff and the housing situation -


Emotional hunger:

  1. Is sudden. One minute you're fine; the next minute you feel you have to eat. It comes upon you without any buildup.
  2. Is specific. You often crave one particular food, like chocolate or French fries. You may feel that this is the only food that can satisfy your craving.
  3. Does not stem from physical sensations in the stomach. It comes out of the blue without any rumbling, though it can often cause phantom hunger pains.
  4. Is urgent. You have to eat now—you absolutely can't wait.
  5. Happens as a result of an emotional event or situation. It can be brought on by everyday stress or a traumatic occurrence.
  6. Results in absentminded eating. You often reach for food before you even realize that you're eating.
  7. Does not recognize the feeling of fullness. You can eat and eat with no end in sight.
  8. Is associated with feelings of guilt. After emotional eating, you feel guilty about what you've done and try to make up for it by visiting the gym or depriving yourself of regular meals.

If you are an emotional eater, you may do yourself more harm than good by beginning a diet before getting this problem under control. That's because cutting out certain foods may cause you to crave them even more, which can ultimately lead to bingeing.


Dyk but what you do do when the emotional eating sneaks up on you - I can't "get it under control" before beginning my diet - lol I'm over a year into it! lol
