Yesterday I adopted a 2 yearold Terrier-Mix (not a Pitbull) from our County Animal Rescue Center. The facility is a taxpayer supported and charitable organization that is used by member communities to engage in the picking up and rescue of stray animals, mostly dogs and cats but they even have ferrets and such there, too. "Hazel" is a bright eyed, clean intelligent, friendly and people oriented friend. I wish I knew her history but I only know that she remained unclaimed after 9 days at the shelter. She certainly isn't afraid of people, or aggressive towards us either. She loves people and insisted on sleeping in my bed last night without a whimper. She is house trained and just a pleasure to me removing much of the grief I have had since my 16 year old cocker spaniel Martha died Friday. I am happy we met.
