Bad things happen to good people

One of the triggers for some people is life...
I know that some people believe that things happen TO them. Well, no, things basically just happen. When I was drinking, I did things that had a cascade effect on my life, and I often got swept away in the avalanche. When I got sober, I discovered that things happen even when I don't cause them...or even when my actions were good and honorable.
Regardless...Life's happenings are not a reason to drink.
A friend of mine has a husband who is a functional drunk and a little girl who needed emergency brain surgery yesterday. The 11 year old is okay today, and I have no idea if the dad decided to drink after the surgery was over. I know that when my Dad had open heart surgery back in the early 80s, when I got word of the success of the operation, I got drunk for 2 days. Didn't help him or Mom a bit.
I know that today there is no reason to drink...none
