12 Step Recovery
Alcohol and Substance Abuse
Good post Beth.
I have a cousin and her husband who have served in the marines.
The best man from our wedding was in the Navy, and served through Desert Storm.
My BIL was a Coast Guard.
My other BIL served in the Navy during Vietnam.
We have also had several good friends serve in branches of the military.
My grandfather served in WWI - he lied about his age (at the time he was only 16) so he could serve in the Navy.
During WW2 my three older brothers served.
A Friend in Recovery
Dad -- Vietnam, Army
Grandpa -- WWII, Guard, homefront Hawaii
Great-grandpa -- Spanish-American War, Pacific
Great-great-grandpa -- Civil War, Union Army
Even farther back -- Revolutionary War, Continental Army
My Grandfather (deceased) as in the Spanish American War (Army); my Dad (deceased) was US Army Reserve in WW II (4-F because he was color blind, he was enlisted to build sub-chasers for the US Navy); and both my brothers were in the Navy in Viet Nam.
DH's middle brother was a corpsman in the Army in Viet Nam, and both his Father and Stepfather (bot deceased) were in WW II (the latter earned a Bronze star and was wounded a couple of times).
