dyk we don't have the same concerns about having the gun around kids, but it still upsets me

dyk Oakland has never been considered one of the country's safer cities, and we have had a terrible increase in crime lately (house burglaries and restaurant holdups), so I understand his concerns

dyk but I think he has gone way overboard

dyk last weekend he asked if I would leave my engagement ring and credit cards home when we went out to dinner (credit cards sure; ring NO)

dyk and then he and his cousin (a highway patrol officer) had a serious conversation about getting me a concealed weapons permit so that I could carry a gun while walking the dog

dyk in truth, my whole city is a high crime area and our house is remote, hidden and a small child could figure out how to break in

dyk I am definitely having the classic liberal, knee-jerk reaction that all guns are bad, but if his concerns don't pass soon, I'll probably end up giving in to one gun that we both get trained to use it

dyk but it will live in a lock box whenever we have guests with kids and it will leave if we ever have kids

dyk and I will never, ever take it hiking.

dyk thank you

dyk my dad always kept his guns locked up in a heavy duty safe and still does

dyk when the kids and I stopped at my brothers a few weeks ago......Mateyah and I slept in the guest room which also houses the gun case.

DYK I can't imagine taking a gun hiking.

DYK I spent 6 weeks backpacking on the Appalachian Trail in 2003 and was asked by at least two people (men)
