Good to see you back Brenda. It has been really quiet here for the past several days. I have been visiting this board for about 6 months and just quit drinking on the 22nd. Today is day six and I am feeling strong in my resolve to never drink again. This is my first attempt at sobriety and I really believe I can do it.

Hi Mom2princesses

You are right, it has been slow. I can be on a little more for the next week, but was TAPPED OUT with the holidays. WOW.

Congrats on 6 days, I remember them well!

Nice to see your pink on the board, Brenda

I am glad you are settling in.

I have already gotten some rejuvenation with being away from school since last week. Went to a gorgeous wedding (oh heavens, the bride pulled off the perfect Christmas/fairytale princess wedding).

Glad you are back

Thanks for the responses Beth and Brenda.

It does feel really good to be sober, I have no doubt I am doing the right thing for myself and my family.

As far as "other things" I am doing, just hitting message boards and recovery blogs to get as much information as I can. I even stated my own blog to journal my recovery. We'll see how that goes. I am considering AA, and have even tried to go to two meetings to no avail, but I am not totally decided. If I can do this on my own, with online support, I may take that path. I really feel good about this, is there such a thing as a "honeymoon period" when quitting, or is it possible that I know I am doing the right thing and I can really do it?

I am also waiting for Under the Influence to arrive, I have heard that is a really good book. Actually I am going to check the mail right now. :o)

Thanks ladies! This board has definitely played a role in getting me to where I am today.
