dyk that's a lot of water?
dyk be careful?
dyk yikes!
dyk and to think that we are having wildfires in CA due to drought.
dyk none here; we have been very lucky so far this year.
DYK that's good that you "fired" her?
DYK I'm not good with confrontation, either?
DYK it is supposed to be a record-breaking flood?
DYK luckily our little town is not affected, as the rivers don't run through here?
DYK but the city is, and alot of the smalll towns near us?
DYK I would love to go help with sandbagging or anything else, but it's tough with the kids?
dyk I have recently read an odd variety of very enjoyable summer books, so I thought I'd share some:
"Smile When You Are Lying: Confessions of a Rogue Travel Writer" by Chuck Thompson (a hilarious send up of the travel writing industry)
"The Wild Trees" by Richard Preston (a non-fiction account of several giant tree researchers and their discoveries in the previously unexplored -- and rapidly disappearing --
DYK I'm reading The China Study by T. Colin Campbell? It's great and I highly reccommend it to everyone! I even sent it to my dad for Father's Day.
DYK but I have other news - Pete and I got a new car!!! We just found out that we got it, so we're going to go pick it up tonight. I'm so excited! It's an 08 Prius and it's so cool! I've never owned a new car before, so I'm excited, but also nervous.
DYK I'll take pictures and post them later. Then you guys can vote whether you like it better than the Jetta with the duct tape.
DYK I have slacked off on my reading?
DYK I am STILL working on World Without End by Ken Follett?
DYK part of me doesn't want to finish it because this is the second in the series and I just love it so much?
DYK I have mainly been reading at night, and often fall asleep?
DYK quite dangerous given the fact that World Without End is over 1,000 pages and hardcover? Ouch!
DYK I just purchased The Tender Bar, J. R. Moehringer...has anyone read it? Reviews?
dyk, I generally don't read "serious" books and stay away from the non-fiction section?
dyk, I have been reading a lot of Tess Gerritsen (gotta love the books in Boston!); I'm a little slower when it comes to the popular books and am just now reading James Patterson (the woman's murder club books), and then there's the cheese?
dyk, cheesey mystery books take very little time to read and require NO thought - great for the train rides? I'm always a big fan of "The Cat Who..." books, the Coffee House Mystery Books, and other similar books; and I'm also rereading a bunch of YA favorites/new books.
dyk, I also want to reread the whole Stephanie Plum series before I get the next paperback, the whole Hannah Swensen series, the whole Harry Potter series, and who knows what else?
dyk, there's also about 11 random books I've bought and not yet read because I don't have enough time?
dyk, I'm also working on collecting (and rereading) the ORIGINAL Nancy Drew books? The ones in the yellow hardbacks?
dyk, those are pretty much the only hard back books I own - normally hard backs are to heavy and hurt my hands?
-Boston Run to Remember Half Marathon, 5/29/11 (2:35:11, no training!)
-Corporate Run, 3.5 miles 6/2/11 (36:38, 4 days after running the half!)
-BAA 10k, 6/26/11 (1:04:52, wanted to be under an hour...)
-Tavern to Tavern
dyk, my dream home has a library with floor to ceiling shelves - on all 4 walls? The only exceptions would be the actual door and a window seat.
dyk, and the books would be "real" books - not those so nice leather covered books that you are afraid to open them?
