Vitamin D deficiency can cause osteoporosis and vitamin D has some effect on arthritis, certain cancers and depression.

I thought there was a connection with osteoporosis; I know vit. D helps with the absorption of calcium.

Are there clues before it gets that far?

Hmm... now you've got me thinking hard about going to the GP and getting tested.

Unfortunately, I am fairly familiar with this.

My Mother is suffering from osteoporosis, which has caused some fractures in her back. She has been diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency that she is being treated for.

Yes, I do: muscle weakness, bone pain, an increased risk of fractures, and an increased risk of some forms of cancer.
