dyk Abi won't be seeing Miss Dayna though we love her.

dyk Miss Dayna took Abi in when we couldn't have afforded to go anywhere else, even though Abigail was technically aged out of the ECI program (she was 3 when first diagnosed)

dyk Miss Dayna isn't trained in over 3 and there are differences. We need a pediatric OT similar to the lady we just worked with, but who has more experience. Abigail is apparently... a unique case. Why am I not surprised?

dyk but I have 3 recommendations - one in Clearlake where my brother & SIL2B live (45 minute drive) and 2 in Pearland - a 30 minuted drive

dyk but hey - if I hit all the lights from where we used to live to Miss Dayna's office sometimes it took me 25 minutes, lol

It's not enough to prepare my child for the world...
I'm preparing the world for my child.

DYK I think you have every reason to feel distraught; no one wants to hear diagnoses about their child.

DYK it sounds like you have it under control.

dyk Clinics for kids are pretty limited - and so Abigail is already on the waiting list -

dyk the one that I want - that came highly recommended - I put her on the list just now b/c of this method they are trained in -

dyk all I want to hear about yellow labs are happy stories of ones that live long healthy lives playing in fields of wildflowers and cuddling their humans.

dyk me too!

dyk I can't handle the rest.

dyk this is why I hate watching the news.

dyk just because lately we've found ways around it.... she's not progressing.

dyk this confuses me a little since I thought you were supposed to find ways around the major issue so that they can cope

dyk 2 of my 3 kids have severe learning disabilities and the goal was to find ways around the dyslexia, auditory processing or short term memory issues.

dyk that's the even more depressing part -

dyk Abigail doesn't need speech and the school has very limited Sensory Services available -

dyk two staffers with our ISD are in my small group and we've already discussed how it's not actually worth pulling Abigail out of her classroom to do it - it's not what she needs

dyk they just aren't set up for the type of therapy that is beneficial to her

dyk I'm ok going private... just going to cost me an arm and a leg - but I use it more for ideas - then work on it at home -

dyk we're going to loan against our 401K to set her and Dek's room up as a sensory room - with the big top dollar equipment, I've been considering it.... I just think now, we have no choice, we need to do it for her.

dyk this is first on my list - after we cover the floors in gym mats:

dyk Cathy, should she also stay away from seeds that are found in things like: cucumbers, certain grapes, poppy-seed bagels?

dyk I'm glad to hear she's doing better and responding to treatment?
