DYK there's a professor at my school who has like 8 kids. He and his wife thought they couldn't conceive, so they adopted. And then they got pregnant (surprise!), So now they have a few bio kids and a few adopted ones.

DYK if they hear about someone whose going to have an abortion, they offer to adopt that child. He told us all our first year that if we ever knew of anyone like that, that we could tell them that they would adopt their child and give them a good home.

DYK they are a very special couple. All of their kids seem happy and well adjusted.

DYK I would love to get to a place, financially, where I could make that same promise to everyone. Even as it is right now, I would adopt anyone's baby if it meant that he/she got to live.

dyk well, I guess I need to go pull some cocktail dresses out of my closet to try on.

dyk Aaron's parents invited us to a charity dinner on Saturday night...Aaron didn't want to go (I didn't care either way) so I told him that *he* could call his mom and tell her that we weren't going.

dyk well go figure...he didn't call her.

dyk they bought our tickets and his dad dropped by his office to give them to him.

dyk Aaron said we weren't going.

DYk I went to Wal mart to get the stuff for my Thanksgiving dishes this morning?

DYK either this guy was checking me out or was checking to see if I was checking him out.

DYK this only happens if I go shopping sans kiddies and it takes me by surprise, its so wierd to be noticed.

DYK it's like, either you know me, you think you know me, I have something ridiculous going on with my clothing that I'm not aware of, you are checking me out or you are checking to see if I noticed you.

DYK one of those.

DYK I'm so used to being off radar, it surprises me.

DYK it always made me feel special too. Just to know that I wasn't an accident, but that my parents fought for me. My mom always said that's how she knew that I was meant to be theirs.

dyk so the mom who raised you is really your birth mom's cousin?

dyk if that's right, it's nice that you are all still connected by blood?

dyk and it sounds like you have a pretty good relationship with your birth mom now?

dyk my parents were divorced when I was 4? When my mom remarried, she asked my father to leave us alone and let her start a new life.

dyk he is the kind of guy who just sits back and lets things happen to him, so he agreed (even though he lived in a neighboring town)?

dyk fast forward 13 years: my birth father wanted back in to my life? It was on and off for a while with us...he wanted to be "dad" and I couldn't handle it - barely knew the guy!

dyk for the last 12 years it's been "on"? We live in the same town and though it is still VERY awkward it gives him a lot happiness to see me and to have grandchildren.

dyk I can imagine how many dog towles you go thru; probably about 3 times as many as us!

dyk though Barlow has frequent towel needs

dyk this is a pretty typical look for Barlow, at the end of a walk:
