dyk our washer died a few months ago (quit working while full of clothes *and* water--had to shop-vac the water out!)
dyk the dryer worked fine, except that the selector knob had been broken off since we moved, and I couldn't get the thing to turn, so I had to dry everything on "high"
dyk getting excited about new appliances makes me feel old... ;o)
dyk LOL--I agree! I have no problem with the raw meat issue
dyk my MIL confused me over Thanksgiving when it came to that, though (she's not much of a cook)...is one supposed to *rinse* a turkey *after* brining it?? Aren't you supposed to do that *before*? Wouldn't the rinsing just rinse off the brine (I know some infuses into the meat, but still, wouldn't you want what's on the skin to stay on there??)
dyk and then, as I'm watching her do this, I'm thinking..."I'm going to have to sanitize that sink before I use it"...but of course by the time I used the sink I had totally forgotten about it, and didn't think about it until I was in bed that night...

dyk yikes on the Costco run!
dyk I'm trying to start buying groceries here and there for Christmas, so it doesn't all hit at once
dyk I already have most of my cookie-making supplies (I think!), and I'm starting to figure out what else we'll be having
dyk DH's uncle has a REALLY old washer and dryer at the farm
dyk not sure exactly how old, but they are gold, so probably from the 70s?
dyk the washer doesn't get all the detergent out, and the dryer has hot spots...so most stuff is dried on the line in nice weather
dyk the towels are "crunchy"...I can't STAND it! Thank goodness we don't usually stay there when we visit!
dyk years ago, someone drove through my dad's furniture store; luckily, no one was hurt (though some expensive furniture perished)
dyk but the problem was user error; not an auto starter
dyk I suspect that dad still does not find anything about this funny.
dyk Karen, that is scary and sad
dyk I'll be thinking positive thoughts for your BIL and family.
dyk wouldn't surprise me at all!
dyk I have started to look for a replacement
dyk the Auto Show last weekend was very helpful
dyk but DH and I are both so busy right now; i am not sure when we will actually find the time to test drive the candidates, then buy.
dyk that's what we did
