dyk dare I ask what people were up to last night

dyk I was comforting my friend

dyk hateful things are being said about her daughter by people who have no clue

dyk and friend is questioning where God is in all of this

dyk not a good thing for anyone involved

For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.  The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.       Song of Solomon 2:  11,12

DYK Exactly..I'm with you there, Jennie?

DYK Perfectly happy to help her study at any time...always have been, always will be?

DYK Most of the kids do much better with much less interaction from their parents?

DYK We've tried it both ways...staying on her constantly and backing off...neither seems to work?

DYK After the shock has worn off, I'm resigned to letting her suffer the consequences of her actions..if her actions made her fail, then she should repeat the grade?

DYK As much as I hate that, I will not try to bail her out of it?

DYK I think if I refused to let them fail her, even tho she deserved it, it would be a huge disservice to her?

DYK I just have to get over the fact that she may fail?

DYK Bruce & I were both over-achievers, so it's hard to stomach her repeating a grade?

dyk could it be her maturity and not her intelligence or work ethic that is lacking a bit? Maybe she is a bit "young" and repeating the grade could really help her out in that regard?

dyk I don't know.... I know when we discussed Kindergarten with Abigail, it would have been so much easier if she had been a "young" 5 and we could have repeated Pre-K, lol

dyk lol she'll also drive a year younger in school... so you have more high school years where she can take herself to band, basketball, the bank..... detention.... lol

dyk the fact she says she's too lazy to do the work isn't good

dyk it's another way of saying she doesn't feel like doing it

dyk does she think she'll be able to tell her boss she's too lazy to do her job

dyk sorry, got carried away

dyk when my kids start with comments like that, they get told they don't have to like it, they just have to do it

dyk they will encounter too many things through their lives that they aren't going to like and want to be lazy about

dyk but at those times it won't be an option -- at least not if they want to keep a rough over their heads and food in their bellies

dyk if she does what she doesn't want to do now, there will be opportunity to do what she does want to do later

dyk if she doesn't, then it's really her choice to not do what she wants

dyk somehow she's not seeing that it's all about her own choices and no one elses

dyk and as for the summer, going to the office sounds like a better option than spending time with someone who loves her so much they are wearing blinders

DYK They may wind up needing to move the trial out of the area to have a better chance with the jury?

dyk another thought to share with Maegan

dyk does she think you always want to do all the things that you do

dyk I've used that with my kids, too

dyk I've actually told them that I don't feel like doing such-and-such, but if I don't do it who will

dyk if she doesn't do her work for school, who will -- no one else can do it for her
