dyk If someone was to throw her a shower, I would attend. I am planning on buying some clothes and a box of diapers. I just don't want to do it.

dyk When my due date was getting closer and nothing was happening, I made DH DTD every night in hopes of getting my labor started. He started to complain and I told him, it might be a few months before we can again. He stopped.

dyk I ended up being induced and I had a c/section anyways.

dyk What type of cloth diapers do you use?

dyk I am thinking of buying some to use at home b/c she can take off pampers very fast.

dyk I am sorry poor Abby is going through this

dyk One of my friend's DD has sensory issues and they had her at http://www.bayareamontessori.org/drupal5/node/4 which may be expensive. Its too far from us.

dyk The only reason why I am suggesting Monetessori is that the program lets the child engage and move at their own pace.

dyk I know HISD has a public Montessori but its by Reliant Stadium.

dyk I hope you and her teacher can find something that works for you both.

dyk we use a very simply dry pail system

dyk we have (or had - I gave them away and will be replacing them) 3 dozen chinese prefolds (basic white wash)

dyk then we had for daytime the bummis whisper wraps (3 in each size just in case we had a leak)- some with velcro but I really liked the button ones best

dyk and for overnight we used the fuzzibunz (would LOVE to have used these for all the time but too $$) w/ two chinese prefolds in them

dyk worked like a charm!!!

DYK SOME PEOPLE thought it was gross to sort of wipe out the poop with the wipey before putting the prefold in the pail, but it never bothered me.

dyk and then each day or every day and a half I would do one load of wash, one load to dry (we didn't dry the bummis covers) and then that was that.

dyk we have a montessori school that meets at the church where my mom works

dyk and that is our next option

dyk I have worked out with the teacher, almost as a personal favor, that for half the price ($200 a month) Abigail could attend daily from 8:30-1

dyk that is almost a full day which is 8:00-2:30 I think for the other kids

dyk she'd be the only Kindergartener but Jamie (the teacher and director) knows us personally and is confident that with some one on one from her, Abigail would do just fine in her First/Second grade class.

dyk Thanks for the info

dyk I think the pampers work too well - she can pee them and her skin feels very dry. I think I am going to do cloth to help her potty train.

dyk Having been an elementary education teacher, I can see both sides of the issue. I think Abby might benefit from the smaller teacher/student ratio and the fact that she can decide what to learn/when to do stuff etc. It may give her more control over the situation.

dyk Montessori works for 99% percent of the students.

dyk There are pros/cons to the system but we plan on keeping Emma in Montessori until at least the 6th grade. At $200 a month, that is a really good price.
