DD is dumping controlling BF~

Yeah! 18dd just called and told me she is breaking up with her controlling bf. She said she is tired of him questioning her about her every move, about who she hangs out with and how she drives, who's at work, etc. I hope she is strong enough to go through with it.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

I'm very proud of her for making such a difficult decision. Please caution her about him. He may either whine, beg or get angry. Either way it's awfully easy to mistake that for love and caring.
Good Luck to her!
Well, she did it - she was quite the mess last night, but refused comforting. I think she just felt like crap because she says they do really care for one another, but she just couldn't stand the smothering and controlling behavior any more.
I just hope, and you know we've all done this, that she doesn't just use the break up as a means to try and get him to change....you know what I mean?
This morning she seemed slightly better. I offered her a late note for school if she wasn't up to it, but she refused and went in, glum faced, but she went nonetheless. She's a strong girl, I think she will be okay. I just hope he doesn't start texting her like crazy and wear her down.
Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. I was lighting candles and praying last night that he heart would mend and she'd be strong enough to go through with it.

Poor dd, she is so heartbroken. But she is strong, hanging in there. Unfortunately, she only has two GF's that she hangs with and neither have been available the last couple of days so she is really feeling lonely. Last night she asked me to go out to get ice cream with her so we did. She didn't talk much about the actual break up but she did talk about the BF and his family. I think she's trying to figure out why he's so insecure and controlling.
I know she has to work it all out for herself. Last night I asked how she was and she told me to not ask her that anymore so I won't. But I gently reminded her that as her mom I just want to make her feel better, and so she accepted a hug. :0)
In the meantime, she has some stuff of his and he apparently has some things of hers so they have to arrange a way to get these back to each other without hanging out. She's too weak right now to see him and I don't want her to cave.
Thanks Dee for sharing your dd's story with me. I know that my dd can do this, she just needs a little time away from him to garner some strength before she has to face him again. He cries everytime she's ever had to talk with him about his behavior. He says he tries to keep it in check but he feels like he can't control how he feels about her hanging out or talking with other guys, working with them, etc.
Thanks again
