Wondered if I could get some opinions on a Christmas gift for 14yo DD, although it's after the fact now ...

DD usually carries a portable CD player, CD case with CD's in it and extra batteries in either her backpack or handbag to school. DH and I discussed a few months ago about getting her an iPod for Christmas so she didn't have to add all that stuff to an already full and heavy packpack. She has said in conversation that she really doesn't see what all the fuss is about iPods and doesn't need or want one.

We bought her one anyway! We both feel that once she has it, sees how lightweight and compact, how much more versatile, how much more music she will be able to have with her, etc., etc. that she will really like it.

Like I said, already after the fact, but what do you all think?

I think your DD will be thrilled when she sees what an iPod has to offer--namely, no carrying around CDs and the player. I even have an iPod, and trust me, my family had to surprise me with it because I kept saying why do I need one? I have CDs, etc. I LOVE it! My DD also used to carry around the CDs and kept dissing the iPod, but she can't live without hers now.

We got dd an iPod last year for Christmas. She carries it around like a toddler with a teddy bear. Honestly, there has never been a gift that she has loved more. They are so cool, don't you think?

You've mentioned that she's musical, so this is a perfect gift.
