My son Matt, age 15, sophomore, is in an elite choir at school (10 boys, 10 girls). They are doing Secret Santas and he has drawn the name of a senior girl. Other than choir, they don't have any classes together or do anything together socially. In other words, he doesn't know much about her.
They have to have four small gifts (Mon-Thursday) and one larger gift (Friday). In a burst of inspiration, I found the large gift--an adorable jewelry box that looks like a chest of drawers, decorated in Mary Engelbreit fashion.
But what do we do for the small gifts? Of my four children, I only have one girl and she's 3! I figured one gift could be an ornament, but I'm stumped for gifts that would be appropriate for a 15yo boy to give a 17yo girl.
Help! We appreciate all your suggestions!

Well, I'm not a parent of a girl, but I AM a girl (in a 39 yr old body!! haha) and I think a bottle of lotion from Bath and Body works (or something similar) would be fine, or a candle, or a gift card to a fast food place, or a box of holiday candies, a mall gift certificate, a trendy hat/glove set........I don't know what your $$ limits are, but those are some off the top of my head.
I'd say go with your gut and pick up generic gifts like you would a co-worker or a neighbor that you dont' know well. There are OODLES of pre-packaged gift things at the discount stores (hot chocolate sets, ice cream sundae sets, soup sets,) and anything like that would also be appropriate. Small wallets--mirrored compacts--keychains.........there are endless possibilities of what a teen girl would love. Just go to the 'accessory' aisle of any discount store, or lower end department store (K-mart, Target, Kohls, Goodys, etc) and see what is there-----probably most of what you see would be fantastic!!
Best of luck!
Shels---a girl at heart!!
I can think of a few things: a pack of notecards, funky pens/pencils, a blank book (journal), a pair of Christmas socks ....
Your "big" gift sounds like a winner.

We used to do Secret Santas in high school among the cheer squad. It was always so much fun!
Bubble bath or body lotion from Bath & Body Works is a good suggestion. My DD especially likes the "Moonlight Path" scent (I think that's what it's called anyway) but they usually have some fun holiday scents, too. My DD also keeps a small bottle of their hand sanitizer in her locker. Also scented candles from White Barn candle company. A small box of chocolates, (a tiny pack of 4 Godiva truffles isn't too expensive), a fun holiday pin, earrings or socks. How about a Starbucks gift card? For $5 she could get a cup of coffee (lol)!
We used to sneak to school early and decorate our recipients locker with Christmas wrap, bows, etc.
Jewelry is always fun - Claire's has tons of stuff that's not too expensive. Nothing too personal, of course, but they have cute bangles etc.
I agree with the lotion thing, my DD would also like that.
A journal - blank book - would be another thing my DD would LOVE.
A gift card? $5 at Blockbuster or Starbucks
Thanks for all the great suggestions! I think from all the choices, he and I ought to be able to come up with four small gifts for his Secret Santa name.
