hi, my sds are here for xmas break with one bra each and i need to buy them some but don't know where to go...any ideas? i would prefer to buy them proper training bras but they only want underwire, woman's bras. (yikes! haha) i tried mervyn's and some other 'trendy' shops but haven't found any in the AA range. i found a few at limited too but they were 20.00 each so i'm curious to hear other people's suggestions. thanks in advance!!

Limited too was my first thought too. Do you have JCPenney near you? They also have a good variety of 'types' and the prices are reasonable. The padded, underwire types ARE available in young styles in the children's department. I would steer clear of the women's bra department. Maybe you can talk them into a 'sports bra' type.

My DD 14 gets most of hers from WalMart and is very happy with them.

Yes, my 11-year-old daughter gets her little padded bras from Wal-Mart too and says they are comfortable. She doesn't really need a bra yet, but seems quite self-conscious, so I figure this will help her feel a little more comfortable. It seems to help. They come in all different colors and they are not heavily padded. Most of the girls here wear that type.

I'm a smaller breasted person who prefers the underwire bras, however, I'm not *that* small. Finding underwire bras under size 32C or 34B is difficult. The cup size for those is the same, but the band size is different. With the smaller cup size, it it more likely that the underwire will poke, especially under the arms. (I hate the ones that poke, so I try all bras on in the store!)

Ok, about your problem. Ross sometimes has name brand bras very inexpensive, and the unusual smaller

After reading the first few lines I was going to suggest Limited Too, but since that was addressed later...

My MIL sent DD a cute underwire bra from Wal-Mart. She is only 6 so she definitely has the smallest size available, lol!

JC Penny has decent bras in the girls department, and the lingerie department carries brands with 'nearly A' sizes. I don't remember which brands make the 'nearly' sizes, but I've seen them at JC Penney. Jockey brand bras are good for young girls. The bras in the girls department will be more economical than the ones in the lingerie department, though.

You have my sympathy -- I hate bra shopping with my DD, but she hates it even more!

Fascinating thread..
Brings to mind the male ego.
Jock straps come in two sizes; youth and adult. There is no "small". That would be more than we could bear...

As for DD, I take her to VS and sit on the little couch adjacent to the dressing room and read the newspaper while people stare. I think it makes her feel grown up.

hi all! thank you so much for your ideas! i had not thought of some of them so i feel like i have some options to try now. what a relief! some of the bras they have worn over to our house, i feel, have been inappropriate for their ages (black bras and string bikini style underwear) but it's their mother's choice so i can't really change that. obviously i am not going to buy something i don't agree with, but i am trying to compromise with the u/w slightly padded colourful ones (no lace!). i am sure that the underwire is purely a 'status' thing (haha can you imagine? thank god i am not a teen any longer!!) because as a pp mentioned, if you are smallish on top, you don't need underwire. oh well...i'm glad to have some ideas now. thank you!!!

But Daddio, those VS bras are e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e! A nice experience, for sure, and I ended up spending nearly $150 for the experiences (and three bras!) a year or so ago.

My experience is also that the underwire of VS bras pops out much faster than any other brand of bra. After about 3-4 monts in a VS bra, if I'm wearing a v- or scoop-neck top, I can look down and see the underwire creeping out of my bra and up my chest! Or feel it digging into my armpit.

Or I find it in the washing machine or dryer! You know those little vent holes in the drum of your dryer? One of those wires must have slipped right in one and there is currently a bra under-wire stuck in between. (I'm not sure how it got in there, I can't see it, and I normally hang bras to dry, but one must have slipped by me.) Whenever I run the dryer, it makes this horrible scratchy, scraping noise every time the drum rotates around.
