My name is Aliya-jenks2girls-and I am the Mother of 2 girls-3y and 13y. I love both of my daughters very much but I'm not wanting to make the same mistakes my Mother did w/me with my eldest daughter. So I am looking all the time for info on how to effectively raise my daughters without being too sheltered & too strict. :o)

Hi, Aliya, and Happy New Year! I mostly lurk here. I have a 14.5-y.o. DD who is a freshman in high school, so I'm right there with you.

Take care,

Hi Aliya! Welcome to the board. I have a 14 year old stepson and a 2 year old son, so we're probably experiencing a lot of the same things now. Look forward to talking to you!

Welcome to the Board. I have a 16 yo ds, 14 yo dd, and 9/12 yo ds. I hope that this new year is much better than the last! I too, am trying to raise my children differently than my own mother raised me but I think my own mother was much too lenient. However, I had a great relationship with her so I struggle to maintain a balance between being too lenient and too strict, aiming for the middle, and most often erring on the side of being too lenient, I am afraid. Of course my teenagers would not agree! LOL.
