Did anyone get to see the Lifetime t.v. version of the memoir, Augusta, Gone? I thought it was done well. I had never heard of the book until I looked it up on Amazon after seeing the movie. I'm not sure anyone on this board has had to deal with as much as this mother and daughter did - maybe on the tt board - but I know it made me think. I did miss the first hour, so don't quite know how Augusta began this downward spiral. Did anyone catch the first hour?

One part that I can really relate to was when the mom was looking through old pictures of her and her daughter, when she was young. Kinda wondering, "What happened? Where did we go wrong?"

I really wanted to see this, but I completely forgot. I may have to pick up the book. Sorry I can't help fill in the blanks!

My dd watched it last night and said I had to watch it. I had spent the afternoon in the ER and just couldn't last night (I was exhausted). She was in tears watching it and I heard her talking to her friends about it. It is on again Sunday 3/19 at 8pm. I already have it Tivo'd!!!

I read the book a couple of years ago. Our middle child's teen years were horrific...much more so than Augusta's. Our daughter's therapist handed us the book after one particularly emotional session and I finished it in 2 days. Very few books capture the depth of feeling and the peculiar bonds between parent and child like this one does. And for those of us who have deeply troubled teens, I think this book is a must-read. There are many passages in the book that brought me to tears because they were like snapshot of my own life. I felt like I could have written it.
I would recommend to anyone to read the book before watching the movie.

I'm so sorry you went through this. What I saw of the movie seems like a mother's worst nightmare! I hope your situation had as happy an ending. At the end, where mother and daughter reunite at the train station and walk off together, they show another mother and daughter sitting on a bench, smiling. Then the daughter pulls in closer to mom, they both smile for the camera and the picture freezes - that was the author and her daughter, who is now a college student. Always nice to hear about happy endings.
