Wow. Impressed with DD's HS

This is such a new sensation for me, I'm not quite sure what to do. I wrote a letter to DD's school principal earlier this week, (with a copy to the assistant principal) she hand delivered them yesterday and I got phones calls from them both today! I've only had a few occassions when I've had to contact school officials over the years, and my experience has been that they don't usually return calls or respond to letters. I'm kind of in shock.

Short story: The computer lab in DD's school was 'vandalized' a few weeks ago -- someone removed all the little rolling balls from the mice -- and the school just simply closed the computer lab. Well, not during the school day, just before and after school -- which are the times DD is most likely to try and utitlize it because she is on campus for several hours after school most days.

It also makes it difficult for students to work together on class/partner projects and DD has several in progress now. She has been dragging DH's laptop to school this week for just this purpose.

So I wrote a letter to the principal asking if the decision regarding the computer lab could be reconsidered and explained my reasons why. His secretary called me this morning to say he was quite busy this week and would call next week to talk to me. The vice principal called this afternoon!

Wow. This just amazes me. I am so accustom to school officials not responding to parents at all that I feel downright weird!

IKWYM - sometimes it's hard to get responses from school personnel! I feel the same way about my DS6's school - it's not a perfect school, but they ALWAYS call back immediately! Good for you for following up on something, and good for them for responding!
