Hi my name is Jan and I live in Perioa, Illinois with my daughter who is 15. My ex husband is uber-gay and is homeless. I haven't seen him in 13 years, so he might be dead. I don't know.

My daughter is having big problems with diareeah now. She has been for about 6 months. She has missed a total of 54 days due to diareeah. Some days she can go 2 hours without pooping, some days only 2-3 minutes. I took her to a doctor but they told her to take some Pepto-Bismol.

I'm a manager at Walgreens so I know just about everything there is to know, but if there is something i should do different, TELL ME!!!!!!

One of my DS's classmates had the same problem the last half of junior and first half of senior year of high school.

I agree with the last 2 posters who suggested your daughter be checked for IBS or Crohn's Disease. My nephew has the latter and meds do help somewhat, but he has a severe case and has had for many years.

I know some teenage girls take laxatives in order to lose weight. Have you completely ruled that out?

Good luck,
zz

Could be colitis, lactose intolerance or it may be irritable bowel syndrome. You need to get her to a gastroenterologist right away. Pepto is not the answer. See a different doctor.

Please take your daughter to see a Gastroenterologist (or a GI doctor). They specialize in problems with the stomach and intestines. Pepto-bismal is not an answer to a problem this severe. This sounds like irritable bowel disease (IBD) or Crohn's Disease. Both are very treatable so do not be afraid to take her for a second opinion.
