Can't we all just be nice?

Hey everyone-I know that sometimes there are heated discussions about certain topics that can easily become debateable, but can't we all just try to respect one another a little better? You know, if a particular topic has the potential of becoming a debate, perhaps it's better not to post at all.

I know I'm not CL or anything, but I love everyone here - each and every one of us has something to add to this board. It's the varying perspectives that really can help a person out when they are going through something especially difficult.

So, can we put those other posts behind us and just go back to being the supportive, fun and interesting board we've always been? Pretty please??

Hugs~

I know I am new here and I think I caused quite a stir. I did listen to each and every comment, no matter what it was.

I thank everyone and do want to get along.

Oh my...I wasn't targeting anyone in particular with my wishes. I just don't want anyone to feel excluded as I feel that we ALL have something to contribute to the board. So, it was not you or anyone else in particular. K?

Oh, I know you weren't targeting me. I just wanted to say that I do want to get along too.

Well... since there are mainly just 2 of us having a disagreement, I'd have to assume you *might* be talking about me! That's ok! I understand what you're saying and totally agree.

I was just about to post to the other to not leave the board until I read her later post about me...... basically how useless I am on this board. But I have thick skin so I'm not upset.

zz --> zigzag: my cb handle when driving an 18-wheeler. I had a difficult truck and the other truckers would yell at me over the cb "quit zigzagging!!" And it just stuck. Guess it bothers some folks.

Apparently we can't all be nice, much as we would all like. I'm sick of being attacked for my own conservative views by a particular occasional poster on this board. I believe that its getting to the point where I can't speak my mind here anymore. When everyone on this board is able to accept views different from their own without insults, then you will have a true and free exchange of ideas.

Mostly this is a board for talking about our teens - I just don't understand why some people want to hang out and dispense advise and throw fuel to the fire, maybe it's just boredom, who knows? I don't feel comfortable, though, discussing any of my own teens while there is this pervasive attitude of non acceptance for people with somewhat conservative views, whether they be about homosexuality, or whatever.

On the bisexuality thread, I posted what I feel was a valid question regarding the thread (which by the way I didn't start). I am seriously attempting to enlighten myself on the situation. Most of the posters were informative. However, of course I was flamed, again for being "tolerant".

Truce already!

I'm sorry your feelings were hurt. The last thing I want is for you to feel you can't post here about your kids. I won't post to you about anything you write regarding your kids. So stay. (we're probably gonna get a few deleted posts, so we have that in common at least)

Don't you think that sometimes semantics get in the way of communication? I mean, ONE word can mean something to one person and a completely other thing to another.

When you said 'tolerate'...I didn't think you meant in an eye rolling sort of way like, "okay, well, I guess since bi people aren't going away, I may as well tolerate them". I took it to mean that you accept them on some level - perhaps not on a completely openly accepting level, as if your child just came home and said, "I pledge to be married before I have sex" kind of acceptance, but on some level, KWIM?

Oh jeez, I hope I didn't make it worse!
