Following a 4.5 hour AP Exam prep session at school Saturday morning, DD was faced with homework for four out of her six classes. Ugh. I don't know who is more tired of school, me or my kids.
But anyway, DD chose not to do any of it Saturday afternoon -- can't say I blame her, these 'study' sessions are pretty intense -- so I just knew we were looking at a long day on Sunday. We had plans to go to dinner Sunday so I anticipated a long night as well.
Well, she got up and got going Sunday morning, rather reluctantly, but get going she did. I checked in with her after a couple of hours and she said "oh, I'm doing great". And I thought ... "yeah, right". She came down for lunch, put in a mile on the treadmill, and took a loooooong shower before getting back to it. By this time, I was thinking she was going to be up all night!
A second check found her doing on-line classes for her learners' permit. Egad! I asked about French homework: Done. Math? Done. Euro terms divisions? Done. Biology? Done. She waved binder paper in my face, all full of writing. "All that's left to do", she said, "is English." Whaaa???
DD: It really works!
Me: What really works?
DD: Just doing it. It really works if you just sit down and do it.
Me: {{Feeling faint}} Yes ... it really does, doesn't it?
So not only did DD get all that homework done, she exercised a bit, finished up her on-line drivers' course so she can get her permit next week (or the week after) showered, shaved AND blow dried her hair (the hair drying thing is usually a time-permitted luxury) had dinner, AND watched a couple hours of television! And still got to bed before 10:00. I must say, she was pretty perky this morning.
I'm a bit reluctant to start the happy mommy dance. We'll see how this next week goes ...

Wow that's great, that she finally "got it". I'm impressed that she plugs away the way she does.
