Hi

I have a 13 year old daughter who has just started wetting the bed, she has been dry during the night since she was 4 or 5.

Personally I have never heard of puberty causing bedwetting. I would call the doctor and tell him/her what has happened and see what they have to say.

I would also have a talk with her and see if anything is bothering her, often if there it something bothering a child this will happen. I don't want to scare you, but this is also a major sign of sexual abuse or that a child has been molested.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the title of your post. My DS went through a similar situation just around the time he reached puberty. No one every figured out exactly why it was, and it has since resolved itself (I hope!). It is very distressing to the child as well as the parents.

I would suggest a visit to a doctor and then a urologist.

Just to add to my previous post, I agree with Sue that stress could be playing a part here. And puberty certainly is a time of stress! I think that was definitely one of the issues in my DS's case. If it continues, and your physician and a urologist can't find any physical cause for it, a counselor might be helpful to sort out whether anything else is going on with your DD emotionally.
