Clothes shopping

Took DD shopping yesterday for warm clothes - she's been layering t-shirts and light jackets, and just not warm enough for real fall/winter weather. She's usually NOT grabby about clothes, so when she asks for something I'm happy to indulge. Also, yesterday we went to American Eagle - she's usually a Target or Forever 21 shopper.
Well, we went a little bit crazy - three sweaters, four long sleeve shirts, and a pair of jeans - not so much to last the winter - but it cost more than either of us expected. I felt so bad for my DD - she was in shock, almost crying, she hates to think of spending that much on clothes or on herself. We're lucky that we can afford it, but we don't usually spend that much in one stop, and since she usually avoids any name-brand label, she was surprised. I know many moms have the opposite problem - teens who only want brand-name and over-shop - so I am grateful. I just feel bad that my DD felt bad ("don't tell dad") and greedy (she said it, not me).

Hi everyone,
I have one DS who is in college. It,s amamzing how frugal he has become. He has learned( through his mother pat mtself on the back hehe ) If
That sounds like a shopping trip with N.
We try to do sales too - DS15 decided he wanted new Birkenstocks; he'd outgrown the knockoffs he had and wanted 'real' ones that fit.
My 18dd, being the little noncomformist that she is, will only buy clothing that is NOT popular name brands! Lucky me!! Haha.
OTOH, my 20dd is a name brand HOG and loves to shop at AE and GAP, and Hollister, etc. I HATE shopping with her because I refuse to waste money on disposable clothing, which IMO, is what most of those places sell! Have you ever felt a t-shirt from Hollister? It is so paper thing, you HAVE to layer it with something because it's practically see-throug. Fortunately, dd20 usually only buys if it's on sale, but even on sale, the prices at those places are expensive.
I refuse to spend more money on articles of clothing for my dds than I do on myself. I am a full time working professional - I need to buy clothes that are of
DD17 is pretty thrifty when it comes to buying clothes.
Bless her heart for being such a concientious (sp?) shopper!
My ds16 hits kinda inbetween the two extremes, I guess.
