I was wondering if anyone would like to share a few of their biggest joys, as well as challanges, in parenting teens?

Biggest Joys ... seeing my dd grow into a beautiful, independent, strong woman.
Biggest joys--seeing her grow up into an adult, seeing all that she has accomplished, that she was able to manage taking very hard courses and working part-time.
MY biggest joys is seeing what a dependable, funny, determined, caring ,independant friend and DS he has turned out to be. He is pretty levelheaded is a great son and BIG BROTHER> Also no problems with drugs, alcahol, disciplinary actions in school. He was an athlete and well liked by all. (Although I am not one of those parents who believe
The biggest joys are/have been seeing my two sons, now 24 & 18, smile and laugh, and seeing their self-confidence grow as a result of their accomplishments--athletic, social or academic. (Neither son had all three.)
The biggest challenge was getting them (and ourselves)through the rough times when stupid decisions (underage drinking) got one in trouble, or when their lack of effort resulted in poor performance, or when jerk coaches squelched their self-confidence. Neither was hurt by a gf along the way, but I'm sure that would be another rough period to get through should it happen.
Nothing is harder than seeing your child unhappy, unless it's unhappiness due to denial of their material, instant gratification requests--"I really want that Abercrombie sweater". That brings no tears.
