My 8th grade son has become more stupid (brain malfunctions) and immature than he EVER was.

The bad news is, this is so typical 7th and 8th grade for both boys and girls!

I'm sure this is only temporary, don't despair! I guess there's so much going on physically, emotionally, etc. that goofiness just takes over. I think this time is particularly hard for boys, they really have so little self control if you kwim...

Unless he's actually willing to discuss his behavior and work on it with you, there's very little you can do until it passes. I think that learning simple social graces can give kids an enormous amount of self confidence. In other words, if they aren't at a loss for words, they're less likely to resort to things like sarcasm. Now I'm not at all insinuating that your boy doesn't have manners, I'm just saying that this sort of confidence only comes with experience. That's why work is invaluable with teens....it's not the money, it's the life experience.

Urg, I'm blabbering...lol, don't worry, it'll pass. And when he gets older, he'll deny he was ever a goof. My son does. Whenever he gets on his sister's case when they act silly, I remind him he was once a boy who wanted nothing but Pokemon cards one Christmas. How quickly they forget.
