Daughter acts crazy for attention...

I have always wanted to try an online discussion board to get advice from other Moms that have similar concerns as me, but have never done so until now. So I am new here, so all of the advice I can get will be greatly appreciated!
I have 2 daughters; the oldest will be 15 April 9th, and the youngest turned 10 last Nov. They are like night and day! I sometimes don't know how I will survive my oldest daughter! She has been a hand full since the day she was born! She came into this world with teeth and talking before she could even roll over (and hasn't quit for a minute yet!). My youngest is shy, quite and is in the gifted program at her school. I spend so much more time and energy on my oldest that I sometimes feel my youngest doesn’t get enough of my attention.
Both of my girls are

I think kids with ADD mature later than their peers. It is a characteristic of the disorder-the good judgment and self appraisal just come in a little later

I wouldn't worry about it myself. She is fine with it, after all!

I also wonder why you took her off the Adderall and if going back on would help? Their brains need stim and the Adderall provides what they need. Otherwise they provide it themselves and I would assume her behavior and the reaction to it is providing that stim. Since she is not diagonsed adHd, you might not be putting that together. What she is doing is a form of hyperactivity

Oh I do agree with your statement "I think kids with ADD mature later than their peers." Most girls her age are really into boys,

You took her to the doc, he/she diagnosed her, she has ADD, and you're playing doctor with her medications?

Hi and welcome to the board! I have a 16 yo dd who was diagnosed ADD when she was in kidergarten. At first we tried Ritalin, then Adderall. The dosage was gradually increased as my dd aged (and gained weight). Same as your dd, mine also did "A" work in elementary school. Middle school was a nightmare and grades suffered. But I think there were many

Hi and welcome to the board. Always glad to have new people, I see you have jumped in and joined the group. Looking forward to getting to know you.

I have no btdt experience, but I know some of the other moms do. There is also a board for parents of kids with ADD and ADHD. Not that I want you to leave us, I don't I just say this because it may be another source of help for you.

Again welcome and post when ever and how ever often you want to.

I have a friend with two ADHD boys and it was very difficult to keep them on meds during those teen years; I know they both stopped. One eventually came back when he began college classes and takes them only for school

I stopped my own son when he was obviously in puberty. He is very thin and even Strattera, which isnt supposed to suppress appetite, suppressed his. I wasn't willing to risk his adult height over the medication.

Still I would pursue it again if I saw a need. Which is why I was asking you why you stopped. Maybe this behavior signals a time of need and maybe not!

It's a hard call
