Ok, moms, you have to know of what I speak when I say that it is very rare that I am walking through a mall with my teenage daughter or pre-teen son and actually leave the mall having bought a single thing for myself.

Good for you! Glad you found a coat. And you're brave to go into Holt Renfrew.

Retail therapy? Wouldn't work in this house. There is only one thing I hate more than shopping and that is shopping for me. I would rather have a root canal!

Talking about weight, I just got back from picking out my belated X-Mass/early birthday/late anniversary gift. It's a recumbent programmable exercise bike. Took 10 minutes to pick it out. Turned out the cheapest one was the only one that someone as short as I am could use.
I get in early in the week. I need something to help with the stress and well, I hate going to gyms.

Glad you found a coat--it sounds gorgeous! That's the one item I wanted to buy for myself this winter, but I haven't been able to find the style I like in my size.

Yesterday I went shoe shopping for the first time in about two years. (My athletic shoes are always Sauconys or dance sneakers which I buy online.) I absolutely hate it cuz I've got the hardest-to-fit feet. I need a wide width across the ball of the foot, but I have a narrow heel. Any shoes with uppers that don't come half-way up my instep I cannot hold on my feet. Didn't find any to fit so I guess I'll have to get out the shoe polish and just keep wearing the two pairs of old clogs that I have. I envy the many women with nomal feet who can wear any style of shoe that's made.

I envy women with normal feet as well....I live in clogs, slippers and New Balance Wides...whale wide.

Good deal on the coat altho I never heard of that store. I haven't gotten a coat in at least 3 years...I tend to get overheated anyhow and usually wear a s.s. and a vest. But I have a traditional ski parka and a pea coat.

Kohls has some of the best sales. Last year after losing weight I bought a bunch of clothes there--pants for about $10 a pair and tops for $3. I found that the pants in the girls' dept. aren't cut as low as the juniors and I just fit into a 16. (I think it's so gross when the crack shows when people bend over in those low-cut pants; or when the guys wear them around their butts instead of around their waists.) Now that I've gained back some weight they're pretty tight, but at least I didn't waste a ton of money on them. While exploring the girls' department I discovered they actually make bras that fit me and they're priced lower, too--I'd only looked in the loungerie section before. I'd gotten so frustrated with all the big-cup bras that I just decided, hey, if they don't make them small enuf, I guess it means I don't have to wear one. My older sister tells me I should just go without, but DS18 was always embarrassed if he noticed I went out without one.

I buy lots of DH's clothes at Kohls--he buys NOTHING himself. New Year's Eve we had to go there to get him a pair of shoes cuz all he'd brought on the trip to MI/WI was athletic shoes. Let's keep shopping there--we need to boost the stock price after its six-month slide.

Not surprised you have not heard about Holt Renfrew. It's a high end Canadian department store. I don't think it has moved down into the US.

I, too, bought both new clothes and shoes for myself in the last week. The shoes were a big gamble. I sympathize with those with WIDE feet because it must be similar to finding shoes for my NARROW feet. We have a Naturalizer store but I'm not kidding they only carry about 10 styles and otherwise it's a 40 mile drive to a store that sells narrow shoes. So I got online and ordered shoes from "Shoebuy". Price was right and it's prepaid return shipping if they don't fit. I hope it works!

DD 20 is eager to take me shopping and "fix" my wardrobe LOL> Last time I ended up with Victoria's Secret wild bikinis that she picked out for me and other crazy stuff.
