Well ladies, Friday was a big day for Kelsie and Austin, 2 month anniversary! She tells me that it is actually their 1 month anniversary, because she was grounded for the whole first month.

Glad to hear that his good side is becoming more evident. I strongly believe that eveyone has a good side (well, maybe not someone like bin Laden) and that we can learn a lot from those who initially appear to be so different from us.

Those kids who've grown up with so many negative influences in their lives often don't have a chance at success until someone positive (Kelsie, you, a teacher, a counselor) takes notice of them and they finally feel they have some worth. Sure, some make it despite the crappy surroundings, but the odds are definitely against them. And we have to blame the adults and our society, at large, when they turn out 'bad'--how can we blame the poor the kids? I hope things continue to go well for the bf, and for you and Kelsie. Be proud that, like Rose rescued S, you can help this guy succeed just by giving him some respect.

So glad to hear that you have found these good qualities in him. To me, the part about his wanting to be a part of his daughter's life really says a lot about his character. Good for him!

That's really great news Christie. I've been away for several days and this is such an active board, it's almost impossible to keep up with the sheer number of posts, but your thread caught my eye as you had expressed some concerns in the past.

It really sounds like this young man is getting his act together. I'm sure you still have some "cringing" moments but he's making such an effort to turn things around. I'll bet your DD has had some effect on this as well.

Great news and keep us posted.
