No more cheerleading...

N has been toying with the idea of dropping basketball cheerleading since before winter break, and yesterday she made the final decision and turned in her uniform.

Sounds like it was the right decision for her right now, and it's sweet that T is backing her up!

Leah had the same kind of problem with Softball - big drama and very crabby afterwards, but she's decided to stick with it, and I'm not looking forward to the season this year. She is hopeful it will be better this year, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm glad N was able to do what was right for her and escape the drama.

<<..but the selfish side of me is going to miss going to the games to watch her cheer and sitting with my friends who have kids on the BB team.>>

I always have enjoyed watching C and W participate in their chosen activities and felt sad when they elected to give anything up so I know just what you mean.

That's good. Her marks and health are more important.

Find it rather hard to relate to. We don't have cheer leaders in our high schools. It does sounds like too heavy of a commitment.

If the cheerleading was stressing her out, it's good she quit. There's nothing worse than feeling obligated to participate in an activity you don't enjoy.

You can still go to the bb games, you know. The athletic depts always like more ticket revenue. We didn't go to many when our sons weren't playing, but we never felt unwelcome when we went as plain, old spectators.

Very wise indeed. Growing up is hard enough, the less nonsense such as that the better. You sound as if you are genuinely trying to raise a significant human being and for that I congratulate you.

Sounds like she made a good decision for her but I understand about you being a bit sad.
