Hey, I do that all the time...and if I don't have the bill on my desk, it won't get paid...even if it's something I've been paying every month for years now. Out of sight, out of mind...I have rural mail delivery, I often get other people's stuff and go of my way to get it to them, if they're not an
I'm with you Daddioe - almost all my bills are automatically paid. I'm so anal about nothing being late, so it keeps me sane to know I don't have to worry about keeping up with most bills.
But mjaye2002 - we've all done that at one time or another. The companies are usually very nice about giving you a break - esp. in your circumstance. I'd call every one involved and explain - you shouldn't have any problem.
It's easy to do that. I once mailed a utility payment without the check in the envelope, in fact, I never wrote the check. Duh...
With our move in fall I did have one CC payment I missed and after that I set up a few accounts for autopay. Right now I'm waiting to hear from Macy's. I've used that card about 5 times in the past few years, and two of those times I did not get a bill in the mail and then incurred late fees & finance charges. This time, in addition to not receiving our bill, when I dug out my receipt I found that the bill showed the wrong amount for my purchase. If they don't undo the late fee I'll just close out the account--for the few times a year they offer discounts with a Macy's card it's not worth it.
The only problem with autopay is that I tend to take less care in reviewing the bills, and errors are made occasionally. When DS24 was home for Xmas he threw a stack of CC receipts in the trash and he told me he never checks them against his bill. We once had an overcharge of about $50 for a restaurant meal, and without my receipt I'm not sure I would've noticed it. Some waiter must have upped his tip--the meal was only about $120. When I disputed it, they ended up removing the entire charge for the meal--that was a nice surprise.
It happens. Don't beat yourself about it. Just pay them and put a big sign on your frig so you don't forget for next month.
Don't they just charge you late fees?
LOL, oh, yeah, there'll be late fees.

I think we've all BTDT at one time or another.
What saved me was e-pay. I'm not always
