Does anyone's teen use meds?

My daughter has been suffering from mild depression, anxiety and OCD that has become a distracting problem over the past few months.

DS's doc tried to put him on Paxil back when he was in 5th grade - he got the shakes, got cold/hot, had nightmares - they said it may take a few weeks to get over the initial side effects; as he was using it for occasional test anxiety we backed out after about 2 days.
Cory is 15 and is ADD. It really affects his school work. Other than his school grades and work..we have no issues. But boy is he got attention problems. He's just the ADD...without the H. He's tried Concerta. Hated the way it made him feel. So we took him off it. He tried Adderall. Said it did nothing. We took him off it. THen we recently tried the Daytrana patch and he says it works. Sure. The most EXPENSIVE one works. It's about $200 a month. His brother is ADHD and has behavioral issues and takes Concerta that runs us $130 a month. So unfortunitely, Cory's meds are waiting about another month while we catch up on bills. Then we'll get him back on them. Without prescription coverage it just about kills us.

My almost-12 year old takes a low dose of Paxil for generalized anxiety disorder.
Do you have a walmart near you?? If so call them and ask them if the meds your kids are on is on the $4/$10 generic plan. This is when you pay only $4 or $10 for your RX.
DS is on dexadrine for ADD and her med is covered by the program.
If your med is NOT on the list, you can ask your doctor if the med is under the pataint assist program. This is when the maker of the medicine sends you the meds for free each month. This is income regulated but the income guidelines are high. So you just might quilify.
My DS is now 17 years old and a junior in highschool.
